Marching Band Scholarship
Congratulations to Kelsey Kinzer, a sophomore trombonist majoring in Zoology, who won the 2009 $1500 scholarship award. She is our first award recipient and we are proud to support her commitment to the Cougar Marching Band. We are now accepting applications for the 2010 year. Applications are due by January 29th, 2010.
The Cougar Alumni Band is proud to sponsor the Randall Spicer Marching Band Scholarship! Starting in 2009, a $1500 scholarship will be awarded annually to a qualifying marching band member.

How to Apply
- Be a current Cougar Marching Band member at WSU
- Complete participation in the fall Cougar Marching Band season following the January application deadline
- Have a 2.8 or greater cumulative GPA
- Submit a 500-word essay answering the question "Describe what you have learned by being a member of the CMB and why you should receive this scholarship" by January 29th to the School of Music attached to this cover letter.
This scholarship is intended to promote continued participation in the CMB throughout the student's collegiate career. Students apply for the scholarship by the January deadline, and the winner is awarded the $1500 scholarship after completion of the subsequent Fall marching season. About Randall Spicer
Randall Spicer cane to teach at WSU in the fall of 1953. After retiring, Randall was instrumental in the establishment of the Cougar Alumni Band, and for several years, was deeply involved in its activities. Randall will always be remembered for his wealth of experience, human qualities of caring, phenomenal memory, constant optimism, and his ability to accept new interpretations, ideas and changes. In remembrance of his legacy and in recognition of his excellence in musical leadership at WSU, the alumni and friends of the Cougar Marching Band established this scholarship fund.
