Marching Band Scholarship

Congratulations to Erin Headle, our 2011 $1500 scholarship award winner! She is third award recipient and we are proud to support her and the Cougar Marching Band. We are now accepting applications for the 2012 year. Applications are due by January 31st, 2012.

The Cougar Alumni Band is proud to sponsor the Randall Spicer Marching Band Scholarship since 2009. A $1500 scholarship will be awarded annually to a qualifying marching band member. This scholarship was funded by members of the Cougar Alumni Band. This is one of the great causes you support by joining and continuing your membership with us.

How to Apply

This scholarship is intended to promote continued participation in the CMB throughout the student's collegiate career. Students apply for the scholarship by the January deadline, and the winner is awarded the $1500 scholarship after completion of the subsequent Fall marching season. Send questions to scholarship@cougaralumniband.org.

We endowed one $1500 scholarship in September 2008, and are within reach of a second endowed scholarship! Thank you to all who helped make our vision a reality. Your new and continued contributions can help us reach our goal of two endowed scholarships.

About Randall Spicer

Randall Spicer cane to teach at WSU in the fall of 1953. After retiring, Randall was instrumental in the establishment of the Cougar Alumni Band, and for several years, was deeply involved in its activities. Randall will always be remembered for his wealth of experience, human qualities of caring, phenomenal memory, constant optimism, and his ability to accept new interpretations, ideas and changes. In remembrance of his legacy and in recognition of his excellence in musical leadership at WSU, the alumni and friends of the Cougar Marching Band established this scholarship fund.

Original Scholarship Sponsors

Many thanks to the 2001 Alumni Band members for their vision and efforts to get this scholarship endowed. The Alumni Band Board is excited and proud to have carried through their initiative to fruition in 2009. It was their and the efforts of many Alumni Band members to make this endowment a reality.
